1978 Auburn Boattail Speedster by Glenn Pray

VIN: A866186
460 V8 | C6 Automatic | Lokar Shifter Upgrade | Functioning Side Exhaust | White over Red Leather | 43,000 Miles

This is not a kit car.
This is not a tribute built in someone’s garage.

This is a factory-built 1978 Auburn Boattail Speedster produced in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma by Glenn Pray and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company — the company that legitimately revived the Auburn name.  Over the years it has received documented services and there is paperwork outlining the original build and subsequent mechanical servicing.

Finished in classic white over red leather, this Speedster shows 43,000 miles and is powered by a 460 cubic inch V8. Strong torque, effortless cruising, and exactly the kind of power this long-hood design deserves.  It is equipped with a C6 automatic transmission and an upgraded Lokar shifter — a significant visual improvement over the original setup. The Lokar unit provides smoother operation, better feel, and a much more refined driving experience.

The chrome side exhaust pipes are fully functioning and connected. They are not decorative. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, and they sound the way this car should.  Everything appears to function as it should. Gauges, lights, fan, and switches are operational. The car starts easily, idles nicely, shifts cleanly, brakes confidently, and tracks straight at 70 mph. It is comfortable on the road and draws attention everywhere it goes.

Cosmetically, the body shows some signs of age including minor paint checking and imperfections consistent with an older paint job. It remains an attractive, presentable driver.   The top and interior are in very solid quality condition.

Original 1930s Auburn Boattail Speedsters have traded in the high six-figure range approaching $1 million. This Glenn Pray continuation delivers the iconic look with modern mechanical reliability and dramatically lower entry cost.

It is ready to be enjoyed as-is — ideal for tours, parades, shows, cruise nights and events.

Glenn Pray continuation Auburns are recognized and welcomed by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, making this car eligible for ACD Club events and participation within that respected collector community.
